Instagram has pretty much completely replaced deviantart for me. I upload the random photos I take there, and rarely write poetry anymore. I feel like I need a mystical forest retreat or something to get back into poetry. I really do miss it, but I find myself sadly uninspired to collect words together. Maybe once I start school in the fall poetry will come back to me as a distraction.. I tend to write more poetry when I'm in school, and I've been out for a couple of years now. Maybe, just maybe..

Hi Nick!

No joke, I deleted a bunch of old, crappy poems to show you my "finer" (and I use this word loosely) poetry. I actually removed some that weren't in my personal collection yet, so, in a way, thank you. You helped me recover them (POETIC ARCHAEOLOGY FTW!) The rest of these journals are lame. PG and lame. You can go ahead and read them or whatever, since I forget what they all say.. Probably just rantings about my teenage/early 20s ex-boyfriends and/or other random musings of my mind.

Anyway, enjoy!

Aloha!

I'm not Hawaiian, nor have I ever been to Hawaii, but I've read enough to know that aloha means both hello and goodbye. It's the perfect double-barreled word to use to symbolize comings-and-goings and transformational changes that happen in your life.

Disclaimer: I realize that astrology and the zodiac isn't everyone's bag, but it may help to think of it this way: even if you're a skeptic, if you can identify any part of yourself within your sign (or heck, even in someone elses',) hopefully it can inspire you to change or improve in some way, or at least give you a new perspective/outlook. Alas.

I was reading up on my astrological sign (Cancer, the moon sign- as I frequently do,) and read this: "if she moves anywhere at all, it will be backwards or sideways." The Cancerian symbol is the crab, or king crab, depending on your source, hence the sideways and backwards movement. I do find myself moving sideways and backwards sometimes, thinking far too much about the past, admiring my teenage physique over my adult shape; even dating the same loser-type of guys at one point. I want to move forward- this sideways and backwards stuff is just silly. While this may be a challenge, I'm willing to give it a shot, and while I may flounder at times (because I'm sure I will), I will put my best foot forward- not backwards or sideways.

Live each day as if it were your last. Never keep a grudge- it makes you scowl which is just plain ugly. Forgive as much as you can. Try compassion on for size. Be polite. Look at things from another's perspective. Listen to lots of music. Appreciate love, and art, and silence. More than anything else, just live right now.

It's New Year's Eve ..day!

The end of 2008..wow.

What a year.

I guess what stands out to me most this year would have to be my multiple trips to the USA- to the Gorge, Ellensburg, and Ephrata; to Seattle, twice! I saw Chiodos as usual, and Escape The Fate. Max Green walked right in front of me @ Sodo, but I wasn't prepared to say anything so I just watched him walk by. (He's short!) I fell in love with Seattle. Yes, it's towering, and tall, and nothing like our spacey downtown Vancouver, but the vibe is so different. I love Pike Place Market, the boho feel of the promenade along the water.. Yep. Seattle is great. I love Washington, really. It feels like home. It's green and the air is fresh, and it's not as compact and my northern west coast. On another note, I'm almost finished reading New Moon. It's not as slow as I anticipated, from what I was told. True, Edward is physically gone for most of the story, but when he rejoins.. It's perfect. This story will make you fall in love, and write and speak differently, and wish you were inhuman, and love ten times harder. It's so awesome. SO! In light of my near-finished reading of the second book in the Twilight saga, here is a list of the full and new moons for 2009, courtesy of: www.nevis.columbia.edu/~seligm….

Okay, there's a 2010 there too. Wow, the Olympics are coming fast too. So, my plans tonight: don't break my ass walking home because it's very icy. Pick up noise makers and party hats, get Kahlua and champagne, and edibles. I'm excited to ring in the new year. I haven't decided on my resolution(s) though.

Let me give it a shot:
1. Let go. Let my mom be as she is, try not to validate her.
2. Get my FREAKIN' N!! God, how I need my license.
3. Travel more. (Road trips!) NOTE: This requires the N.
4. Tentative: get a new tattoo?
5. Exercise more. Yoga + something else, or more yoga, but still, something else too.
I think I might add to this later, but this was a good place to start.

Things to look forward to in 2009:
Aug- Warped Tour!
Nov- New Moon movie!
..can't think of much else so far.

Happy new year!
